What Is Neko?

This is a prototype of Neko, particularly "Neko's Nest". The Augmented Reality feature in the app. Neko is a class project designed by students of Interaction Design. The concept of Neko was based on research collected of Japan's history. We drew inspiration from kawaii culture, robotics and the loneliness crisis. Further in the development of the project, the concept for Neko went from being your everyday robot companion to a robot that focuses on your mental health. A robot companion would ideally be capable of doing a lot, with the pandemic causing a spike in depression it seemed appropriate to start prototyping towards the mental health services Neko can provide. One of the ways of providing that help would be through a assessment commonly known as the Beck Depression Inventory. We've modified it quite a bit to make it our own, so it is worth noting to not use this as a legitimate way to diagnose yourself.

Although I was thrown off at first by the questions and had to read the description of what this was, I very much enjoyed this fun little exercise. I've known about my depression for a long time, and it has gotten significantly better with the help of my family and therapy, I think this is a great little game if you don't really know what's going on in your life.

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you're finding healthy ways to work on your mental health.
